• Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the last game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players in the world. While betting on online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
