• No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

    Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

    Phil started competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

    He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

    Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
