Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
He began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. He says that he is learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
