• No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
