Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve final poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players around the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I think tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world could be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found playing web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
