• No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

    Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

    He started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

    He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

    Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
