Annie Duke may not have came away with her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until two thousand and four but Annie is still one of the most feared poker players around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Sin City. Annie’s long-awaited WSOP win came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While players from the "younger generation" of poker run amok after a huge win at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mommy" to her 4 kids. She was born in New Hampshire and grew up in a family of poker players. If you do not believe that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, when he plays, who taught her the best method to compete in poker.
However, Annie Duke is not a small fry kind of girl and has won her cut of difficult games, including eliminating Howard a few times on several occasions.
Earning over $3 million in tournament play, Annie branched out to become a consultant to both UltimateBet and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wished to sharpen his skills to become a big player at the poker table.
You may encounter Annie at the Bellagio, you will see her on the tv and you might just even compete against her in a web poker match, but do not bank on a simple win. Unless you are a champion-in-the-making, you’ll not defeat her. However, it would be fun to say you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
